Welcome to Our Bicycle Store
The New Shop!
Well, we had the opportunity so we took the “leap of faith”. Likely the biggest “hail mary” our life. Moving into the new shop at the end of the cycling season was definitely not our original plan.
We knew if we could survive through fall/winter that we would probably make it, and here we are, excited to see what we can accomplish in our new retail space. We’re very excited about this move although it is a pretty terrifying step to take. The incredible exposure and the extra space will allow us to really step-up the promotion of the children’s bike exchange program and our bicycle repair shop.
We’ve spoken with the CRD recently about possible diverting all of the children’s bikes that are destined for the Hartland Landfill Facility which is another reason the extra space is necessary. There are hundreds of repairable bicycles getting sent to the dump yearly and we’re committed to finding a solution.
We are not a 100% charity, nor do we pretend to be. We are a Bicycle Store. We have costs associated with running the program like any business would.
The bikes that get donated normally end up in 3 groups:
REPAIRABLE, if the bike can be fixed up to get back on the road, we will give it a full tune up, by our in-house bike mechanics, using either new or used parts. These are then sold in our store as very reasonably priced up-cycled used bikes.
IRREPARABLE, if the bike is beyond repair, we ensure that it gets stripped down as efficiently as possible, usable parts are kept to mend other bikes, the remaining parts are separated into Steel, Aluminum, Rubber, Hard Plastic to be properly recycled.
GIVEN AWAY. We work with a local charities and organizations to get half our donations of bikes into the hands of the people that need them most.
Most kids bikes are fixed up and given away for FREE with our trade up program as we’re strong believers that every kid should have a bike.
If you are a charity or organization that would be interested in benefiting from our service, we are always glad to try and help any way we can. Contact us here
Our bicycle store is open six days a week for you to drop any bikes you might not need at our convenient 1112 Goldstream Ave. Langford, BC between 10-6 Tuesday to Saturday and 11-5pm Sundays.
If you have a large number of bicycles to donate to us and cannot make it to the store, please Contact us and we will make arrangements to come to you.
Looking For Volunteers! Due to the incredibly positive response to our free children's bike exchange program, we're finding ourselves in need of some people with a bit of bicycle repairing skills to help us keep up the flow of children's bikes. If you would like to help out with a great children's program and help put a great big smile on some kids faces, please feel free to contact us.
